Epson printers track cumulative ink usage in an internal counter. When the counter reaches a threshold, the printer locks with messages like “Service required” or “The Printer’s ink pad is at the end of its service life.” The resetter sets that counter to zero so the printer will operate again. Technicians also use adjustment programs to correct alignment, initialize parts after replacement, or troubleshoot.
